Case Update: The Name is Bond, Nokia Bond

  • Nokia has always been something of a quirky company, and they have managed to secure themselves a spot in the new James Bond trailer. Sharp eyes will see that the Nokia 8.3 5G features in the new film release. And it seems that the James Bond franchise and Nokia are stepping out even more.

The Nokia 8.3 5G is the first 5G handset from the company, and they are truly delighted that it will feature in ‘No Time to Die’. The trailer features Lashana Lynch who will be playing Agent Nomi, and in the 90 second trailer she is seen using the handset as a vital tool as she completes her mission. The company has also said that both the Nokia 7.2 and the Nokia 3310 will also feature in the movie so if you like spotting that sort of thing it’s time to get your close-up glasses ready.

Sold in Europe

You may be aware that the Nokia 6.2 and the Nokia 7.2 have a 007 branded Kevlar case, and it now appears that a new one has been added for the Nokia 5.3. James Bond fans are going to love this. The Kevlar is highly appropriate of course, and the cases are proving to be really popular. Seen in one store in Europe the description of the case reads as follows.

‘My name is Bond, James Bond. With this Nokia 5.3 case, your smartphone is literally undercover. The Nokia 5.3 Kevlar James Bond case is made of hard plastic and protects the device against scratches and bumps. In addition, the phone case features a Kevlar design with a 007 logo. This gives a smartphone a tough look. Are you also a fan of the James Bond film series? Then you will certainly love the Nokia 5.3 James Bond Kevlar case.’

Due for Release

Nokia 5.3 and other .3 models are released to pre-order within the UK and expected to ship and deliver within the next month. The Nokia 5.3 is a mid to budget range smartphone, but still has a lot of functionality and of course the Nokia seal of approval.

Ironically, despite starring in the trailer the Nokia 8.3 5G doesn’t actually seem to get a case. Whether it is in the offing and will arrive shortly, who knows. The movie has been delayed until November 12 thanks to the pandemic. It would of course have been released in April which would’ve made a lot more sense. However, in a plot not dissimilar to many action movies a global virus has taken out a lot of plans that mobile phone manufacturers had.

It’s still a smart move on the behalf of Nokia, as they have lost slightly over the years to other manufacturers, and James Bond is one of the most popular film franchises in the world.
